ABOUT SDH Woodworking
SDH is a group of artisans and artists living
and working in and around McKinney, Texas.
The kernel of the group consists of Steve, who
has most of his experience in the commercial field, designing and
making display cases and the like for businesses. Henry is primarily
a furniture designer and builder, and Donna’s area of greatest
expertise is in finishing, including faux finishes for architectural
applications.
In addition to these three, several other
artisans who pursue other disciplines and use other media form
temporary ad hoc groups to complete a specific job. Who joins in any
particular job is wholly dependent on what skills are needed.
If wrought iron is part of the design, we have
a blacksmith who specializes in ornamental design and hand forging.
One of the foremost area turners ( lathe
masters -- he makes round things) is called in for the part that
requires his specialized knowledge and tools.
In short, we have a large pool of talent
available, and are able to meet virtually any need for anything made
of wood, glass, or mirror, as well as other materials, whether it be
fine art or utilitarian furniture.
We begin the design phase when we have talked
with our customer to decide what is required by the customer. When
the customer has approved our proposed design, then and only then do
we begin work. This ensures that the customer gets exactly what is
needed, at a price which is convenient to the customer, that it will
fit in the space available, and will match the customer’s existing
furniture, paint scheme, or whatever other criteria need to be met.
